Gather Your Festive Ingredients for Cinnamon Roll Snowmen

Creating these delightful Cinnamon Roll Snowmen requires a few simple, readily available ingredients that transform into a spectacular visual and culinary experience. The foundation of our snowmen is, of course, the humble cinnamon roll, elevated by a collection of colorful and tasty decorations. Here’s what you’ll need to bring your frosty friends to life:

  • Jumbo or Grand Cinnamon Rolls: These are the stars of our show! Larger rolls provide a sturdier base and more surface area for decorating. While any brand works, opting for high-quality rolls with ample icing will ensure a richer flavor profile.
  • Chocolate Chips: Essential for giving your snowmen expressive eyes and charming smiles. Mini chocolate chips work best for delicate features, but regular-sized chips can create bolder looks.
  • Blueberries: These jewel-toned berries serve as perfect, edible buttons, adding a fresh burst of flavor and a lovely contrast to the sweet cinnamon rolls.
  • Mandarin Oranges: Peeled and separated segments are ideal for crafting cute, carrot-like noses. Their bright color and tangy sweetness add another layer of enjoyment.
  • Baked Bacon: Crispy strips of bacon make the most delightful and unexpected “arms” for your snowmen, offering a wonderful salty-sweet combination that will surprise and delight everyone. For best results, bake your bacon until it’s perfectly crisp.
  • Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel: These colorful candies are fantastic for creating festive scarves, adding a playful touch of color and a chewy texture. You can choose classic red or mix and match colors for extra flair.
  • Mini Marshmallows: These aren’t just for hot cocoa! Sprinkled around the base of your snowmen on the pan, they instantly create a charming decorative snow effect, completing your winter wonderland scene.

With these ingredients at hand, you’re ready to embark on a fun and easy culinary adventure that promises delicious rewards and unforgettable holiday memories!

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Shape Your Cinnamon Roll Snowmen

Transforming simple cinnamon rolls into an adorable snowman family is a delightful process that’s easier than you might think. Follow these detailed steps to create your own charming Snowman, Snowkid, and Snowbaby, each with its unique character and appeal. Before you begin, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a large cookie sheet by spraying it with cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper. This ensures your snowmen bake evenly and don’t stick.

Creating the Classic Snowman

To build a traditional, multi-tiered snowman, you’ll work with several cinnamon rolls. Start by placing one full roll towards the top of your prepared pan; this will be the head. For the middle section, position a second full roll directly below, almost touching the head. Now, for added detail and a more robust middle, gently unroll a third cinnamon roll into a strip and loosely coil it around the second roll. Press the coiled dough snugly against the main roll to create a larger, fuller body segment. Ensure these two sections are close enough to appear as one connected form.

For the base of your snowman, place a fourth full roll at the bottom of the pan. To give it more volume and stability, unroll two more cinnamon rolls into strips. Loosely coil each of these strips around the fourth roll, pressing them gently into place to form a wide, sturdy base. Carefully push this bottom section closer to the middle rolls, making sure all three tiers are nearly touching. Finally, to craft the snowman’s signature hat, unroll approximately one-third of a seventh cinnamon roll to create a short, straight strip of dough. Lay this strip horizontally across the top roll (the head) to form the brim of the hat. With the remaining two-thirds of the seventh roll, unroll another third and create a zig-zag pattern, pressing it firmly against the brim to form the top portion of the hat. This careful arrangement helps define the snowman’s distinct silhouette.

Assembling the Playful Snowkid

The Snowkid is a slightly smaller, two-tiered snowman, perfect for adding variety to your frosty family. Begin by placing one full cinnamon roll near the bottom of your pan; this will form the body. Next, take a second cinnamon roll, unroll it, and then re-roll about two-thirds of it tighter to create a more compact “snowball” for the middle section. Cut off the remaining one-third of this roll. Take the cut-off piece and re-roll it tightly to form the smallest “snowball” – this will be the Snowkid’s head. Press these three re-rolled pieces tightly together, ensuring they hold their shape as a cohesive three-tiered figure.

For the Snowkid’s hat, unroll just a portion of a third cinnamon roll to get a short strip of dough. Place this strip straight across the top roll to create the hat’s brim. Fold the remaining portion of this third roll and press it up against the flat brim piece, shaping it into the top part of the hat. This gives the Snowkid a charming, slightly smaller hat proportionate to its size.

Designing the Adorable Snowbaby

The Snowbaby is the smallest and most endearing member of your cinnamon roll family, crafted from a single cinnamon roll. This method requires a bit of careful re-rolling to create three distinct snowball shapes. Start by unrolling one cinnamon roll and then re-rolling a segment of it tighter, about five times, to form the base “snowball.” Cut this piece off. Continue by taking the next section of the cinnamon roll and re-rolling it tighter about four times for the middle “snowball,” then cut it. Use the final piece of the cinnamon roll for the head of the Snowbaby, re-rolling it a little bit tighter if necessary to ensure it holds its shape. Once you have your three “snowballs,” press them tightly together to build your miniature snowbaby. This technique allows for a compact and irresistibly cute result.

Once all your snowmen, snowkids, and snowbabies are shaped and arranged on the baking sheet, they are ready for the oven. This shaping process is wonderfully creative and engaging, especially when done with children, as each unique creation will have its own personality.

After careful shaping, your adorable cinnamon roll snowmen are ready for baking. Place the cookie sheet into the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, or until they achieve a beautiful golden brown color. Keep a close eye on them to prevent over-browning. The exact baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven and the thickness of your rolls. Once baked to perfection, immediately remove them from the oven. While still warm, generously drizzle and spread the accompanying icing (usually included with canned cinnamon rolls) over each snowman. The warmth of the rolls will help the icing melt slightly, creating a smooth, glistening finish that enhances both their appearance and taste.

Bringing Your Snowmen to Life: Creative Decoration Ideas

Now comes the most exciting part: bringing your baked and iced cinnamon roll snowmen to life with charming decorations! This is where you can unleash your creativity and give each snowman its unique personality. The possibilities are endless, but here are some specific ideas to get you started on decorating your Snowman, Snowkid, and Snowbaby.

Decorating the Grand Snowman

For your largest snowman, let’s create a classic, friendly face. Use two chocolate chips for the eyes, positioning them carefully to give a kind gaze. For the mouth, arrange seven chocolate chips in a gentle curve to form a happy smile. A small piece of mandarin orange segment makes a vibrant, carrot-like nose. For buttons, place three round blueberries down the snowman’s body. To craft a cozy scarf, take four strands of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel. Loop two strands around the snowman’s neck and thread the other two through them to create a knotted effect. Finally, for arms, insert two crispy pieces of baked bacon on either side of the snowman’s middle section, giving him a welcoming embrace.

Embellishing the Cheerful Snowkid

The Snowkid, being slightly smaller, gets a simpler but equally charming look. Two chocolate chips make expressive eyes, and a mandarin orange slice, cut in half, forms a perfectly sized nose. For the scarf, one strand of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel is sufficient; wrap it gently around the neck to add a dash of color. Complete the look with three juicy blueberries for buttons down its front.

Adorning the Sweet Snowbaby

The tiny Snowbaby deserves an extra dose of cuteness. Place two chocolate chips for its innocent eyes. Three blueberries, perfectly sized for miniature buttons, adorn its small body. A single strand of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel, delicately draped, creates its adorable scarf. For an even more whimsical touch, consider using tiny candy beads for buttons or mini M&M’s for a colorful smile on your smallest snowman.

Once all your snowmen are beautifully decorated, arrange a scattering of mini marshmallows around their bases on the serving platter to create the illusion of freshly fallen snow. This simple addition elevates the presentation and truly completes the winter wonderland scene. Serve your delightful Cinnamon Roll Snowmen with a side of extra toppings like powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and, of course, more savory baked bacon to complement the sweetness. Enjoy the joyful expressions as everyone marvels at your edible art and savors every delicious bite!

Description

You’ll absolutely melt over these adorable and delicious Cinnamon Roll Snowmen! With blueberry buttons, a chocolate chip smile, and bacon arms, they make the cutest, yummiest holiday breakfast that’s fun for the whole family to create.

Ingredients

  • 11 jumbo or grand cinnamon rolls (with icing included)

For Decoration:

  • Chocolate chips, for the eyes and mouth
  • Blueberries, for buttons
  • Mandarin oranges, peeled and separated into segments, for the nose
  • Baked bacon, for the arms (prepare crispy)
  • Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel, for the scarves
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows, for decorative snow on the pan

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a large cookie sheet by spraying it with cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper. Carefully separate the cinnamon rolls into individual rolls.
  2. To Make the Snowman: Place 1 full cinnamon roll towards the top of the pan for the head. Position a second full roll in the middle of the pan for the torso. Unroll a third cinnamon roll into a strip and loosely coil it around the second roll to add volume; press it gently to adhere. Move these two sections closer so they are almost touching. Place a fourth full roll towards the bottom of the pan for the base. Unroll two more cinnamon rolls into strips and loosely coil each strip around the fourth roll, pressing gently. Press the bottom rolls up near the middle rolls to connect. To create the hat, unroll about 1/3 of a seventh roll into a short strip and place it straight across the top roll (head) for the brim. Unroll about another 1/3 of the roll and create a zig-zag shape for the top of the hat, pressing it against the brim piece.
  3. To Make a Snowkid: Place one full cinnamon roll near the bottom of the pan for the body. Unroll a second roll and re-roll about ⅔ of it tighter before cutting off the last part of the cinnamon roll. Re-roll the cut-off part to create a smaller, compact ball for the Snowkid’s head. Press the body and head pieces tightly together. For the hat, unroll just part of a third roll to get a short strip of dough; place it straight across the top roll for the brim. Fold the remaining portion of this third roll and press it up against the flat piece to create the full hat.
  4. To Make a Snowbaby: Start unrolling one cinnamon roll and re-roll a portion tighter about 5 times to form the base “snowball”; cut it. Continue by re-rolling the next portion about 4 times for the middle “snowball”; cut it. Use the final piece of the cinnamon roll for the head, rolling it a little tighter if needed to ensure it stays together. Press the three “snowballs” tightly to build your snowbaby. (For a visual guide, you can refer to the video on the blog post: https://thebakermama.com/recipes/festive-christmas-shaped-cinnamon-rolls/)
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are beautifully golden brown.
  6. Remove the baked snowmen from the oven immediately. While they are still warm, generously drizzle and smear the included cinnamon roll icing over each one.
  7. To Decorate the Snowman: Use two chocolate chips for the eyes. Arrange seven chocolate chips in a curve for the mouth. Place a piece of mandarin orange segment for the nose. Position three blueberries down the body for buttons. Take four strands of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel; use two around the neck and loop the other two through to create the scarf. Insert two crispy pieces of baked bacon for the arms.
  8. To Decorate the Snowkid: Use two chocolate chips for the eyes. Place a mandarin orange slice, cut in half, for the nose. Use one strand of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel to create the scarf. Add three blueberries for the buttons.
  9. To Decorate the Snowbaby: Place two chocolate chips for the eyes. Use three blueberries for the buttons. Drape one strand of Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel to create its tiny scarf.
  10. To complete the winter scene, arrange mini marshmallows at the base of your snowmen on the pan to create a decorative snow effect.
  11. Serve your festive Cinnamon Roll Snowmen with additional toppings, fresh fruit, and extra crispy bacon. Enjoy this delightful and heartwarming holiday breakfast!
