Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

  • Make the Love Letter Brie: Slice the brie horizontally. Spread strawberry preserves on the bottom half, then replace the top half. Spoon remaining preserves into a piping bag, and pipe a triangle shape for the “flap.” Pipe diagonal lines to complete the envelope outline. Add a strawberry heart cutout at the center to “seal” the envelope.
  • Set the love letter brie on a small plate and place it on the board in the round cheese space.
  • Fill each mini bowl with pomegranate seeds, pepper jelly, strawberry yogurt almonds, and strawberry preserves and place them in their designated spots.
  • Place the cranberry Wensleydale wedge in the upper left.
  • Make 3 salami roses using applewood smoked salami. Fold the slices around the rim of a small glass or shot glass, overlapping to form petals. Flip and place them onto the board.
  • Nestle the Tête de Moine rosettes inside and around the salami roses. Tuck basil leaves into the bouquet to look like flowers.
  • Place the Genoa salami slices on the lower left corner of the board. Cut provolone slices into hearts using a cookie cutter and layer over the salami.
  • Fold prosciutto into loose ribbons and fan it out just above the brie for a soft floral effect.
  • Tuck in small bunches of red grapes where labeled.
  • Place beet & seed crackers in the top right, cranberry seed crackers in the bottom center, and heart-shaped crackers down the middle section.
  • Add pink yogurt pretzels to the top section, and heart-shaped gummies near the bottom. Fill in with dried cherries, raspberries, and apple slices.
  • Tuck in chocolate-covered strawberries for extra Valentine charm!
  • Add additional fresh basil leaves around the meat bouquets and prosciutto to give it a blooming look.
  • Serve with cheese knives and spreaders. Enjoy!

Steps to make a Valentine's Day Charcuterie Board

Prep-Ahead Tips for Stress-Free Assembly

Save time by prepping components in advance. Most prep work should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Cut cheese hearts 1–2 days ahead and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Wash and dry grapes and raspberries, and separate pomegranate seeds, so they’re ready to place. Pomegranate seeds last several days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Dip the strawberries ahead of time. Chocolate dipped strawberries can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
  • Pre-portion crackers, pretzels, and candies for quicker assembly.
  • Assemble most of the board a few hours ahead (except crackers and crunchy items) and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Keep refrigerated until just before serving, then add the crunchy elements.
  • NOTE: Salami will lose some of its brightness over time. If you want the roses to pop, make them just before serving.
